Mona Contardi is a Certified Fitness Trainer through ISSA,
International Sports and Science Association. She has been involved in
sports and fitness since a small child. Certified in Kickboxing and
Group Exercise she practices what she preaches. Mona tells her clients
that the way to accomplish the goals they set (be it physically or
mentally) is to be consistent in believing in oneself also telling them to realize that exercise and a sound nutritional diet
is a way of life! With positive thinking and re-assuring oneself to give it their all while going at their own pace - she strongly
encourages TWO things: ONE is a saying all of her members can recite in
their sleep
"Calories burned MUST exceed calorie intake" in order to
lose weight. Number TWO is to keep believing in ones self and to focus
in on what Platoon 5 stands for:
STRENGTH ENERGY COURAGE PERSEVERANCE DISCIPLINE.
Her members have accomplished numerous personal goals at Platoon 5. Losing over 30 pounds, having toned arms to wear a specific dress, beat the
record in their age group climbing the stairs at the Renaissance Center
for Charity, running marathons and races, having their cholesterol and
blood pressure lowered, having their Osteoporosis reading come back
negative (after being positive), just having an overall feeling of
better living, strength and energy increase, endurance increase. Most
members of Platoon 5 become friends and end up connecting
socially. You wont miss class because someone WILL call you out on it
and worry or wonder where you've been! Mona also believes that not only
is exercise and sound nutritional eating a way of life, she really
believes that the health benefits far out weigh anything else, and that
the stress relief of a great work out is vitally important to ones
peace of mind. She also strongly believes that one should make time for
themselves and put the class time down as an appointment in their day
planner and work with it as a priority. Mona believes that an exercise
class shouldn't be dreaded like going to the dentist (that's a joke!)
but she believes that if you find something that works for you, that
you can have fun at and look forward to going to, that you will get
positive results. Mona constantly finds ways to incorporate fun into
her workout program.
